Santos is a Pinion specialist. We know all the ins and outs of this high-quality gearbox. And we have implemented it in our bikes the Santos way. With the Pinion gearbox you have 12 or 18 gears at your disposal. In combination with a Gates carbon belt, this drive is super durable and low-maintenance.

Santos has developed a reinforced Pinion bridge for a stiffer frame and a quiet drive (no squeaks). With the special Santos belt tensioner you can tension the belt in no time. If you choose Pinion, your Santos is immediately E-bike ready. A very futureproof option, if you want to electrify it later. Of course, you can also opt for an E-bike with an integrated battery right from the start.

Smart shifting on your Santos

Pinion Smart.Shifting offers a new, intuitive way to shift gears. Instead of a twist shifter, you use buttons to switch gears quickly and smoothly. The electronic system ensures precise, instant shifts — even when stationary. Thanks to the automatic downshift function, you’ll always start in the right gear.

The system runs on a rechargeable battery and requires minimal maintenance. Pinion Smart.Shifting combines the robustness of the Pinion gearbox with the convenience of electronic shifting. It’s ideal for bike touring, daily commuting, and E-bike riders seeking extra comfort. This innovative shifting method is now available on Santos bikes.

Power from the center

Developed by former Porsche engineers, the Pinion gearbox is positioned right at the heart of the bike. This design ensures optimal weight distribution and delivers a smooth, reliable riding experience. The P-line features 18 gears in a durable aluminum housing, making it perfect for adventurous cyclists. The lighter C-line offers 12 gears in a compact magnesium housing, providing the same reliability in a more streamlined design. Both options guarantee a long-lasting, hassle-free ride every time.

Reinforced Pinion Bridge

At Santos, we strive to optimize our bikes down to the smallest details. That's why we developed our own Pinion bridge. This smart construction provides extra stiffness and stability around the Pinion gearbox, resulting in an even better riding experience. The bridge allows the system to be securely integrated into the frame, not only improving weight distribution but also enabling more efficient power transfer.
