Kamran's reflections at Maletsunyane Falls

Kamran Ali is a long-distance cyclist, writer and photographer. Many people know him as Kamran on Bike. He has spent years cycling across continents. To Kamran, the road is not only about covering distance. It’s also about personal growth.

With his Santos Travelmaster 3+ by his side, Kamran stood quietly in front of the Maletsunyane Falls in Lesotho. This is one of the most stunning natural wonders in Africa. He captured the moment in two poetic reflections.

In his first reflection, Kamran shares what the moment meant to him:

"In the roaring silence of Maletsunyane Waterfalls in Lesotho, the wheels rest, and the heart listens.

We travel not just to move across landscapes, but to be moved by them. The true reward is not the distance covered, but the awe that takes our breath away — the humility that rises when we stand before nature’s grandeur. That’s when we become one with the universe."

Kamran then turned his attention to the place itself — capturing its atmosphere, scale and silence in a second reflection.

Kamran then turned his attention to the place itself — capturing its atmosphere, scale and silence in a second reflection.

"Beneath the sky-kissed cliffs of Semonkong, Lesotho, the Maletsunyane waterfalls (192-metre-high) unfurl like the long, silken hair of a beloved, spilling endlessly from the heaven. Above, the clouds gather like tender dreams, soft and heavy with the burden of rain.

At Maletsunyane — “the place of little smoke” — the plunging water collides with the basin below with a reverberating echo. Local legend has it this is no mere sound of nature’s fury, but the cries of souls who drowned in the falls.

The mist rising is her sigh, a soft lament caught between time and rock. And we, the wanderers who stand before her, are not mere spectators. We are pilgrims watching the sacred fall of love made liquid.

Here, love does not speak — it flows."
