Punctures with only a few hundred meters to go before the finish, a jammed derailleur, a bike that is too heavy, or even too light, the wrong size....these are the nightmares of every road racing cyclist. For, even more so than in any other technical sport, cyclists are especially dependent on the quality of their tools if they want to win.
A road cyclist who wants to win is not only concerned with the improvement in his physical condition, but is almost constantly looking to improve his tool, the bike. Where could it be lighter, what could be stronger, how can it be more reliable?
At Santos we have made it our profession. In the factory at Sassenheim we are constantly searching to perfect our designs, both in the design department and on the shop floor. Through clever ideas, in recent years we have been able to make the frames of the Santos road racers not only lighter but also stiffer.
Using geometry that is slightly different than that used by fellow designers, we can now present the Race Lite - perhaps the fastest ever Rohloff bike. In any case, definitely the fastest Rohloff bike so far. A real road racing bike, with great handling and very suitable for daily use.
The winning combination is usually the one with the most talent and the best bike. At Santos we guarantee half of those conditions.
Five year warranty on the frame
All Santos frames are handmade and after welding they again receive a heat treatment which ensures a well-tensioned frame. The quality of the frames is so reliable that we give 10 years warranty on it. You are thus assured of the possibility to enjoy many years of cycling.
Each Santos is fully assembled by one professional, right from when it is a bare frame. Santos wheels are hand made and carefully brought to the correct tension by a specialist, meticulously constructed and printed several times during the centering. We offer a choice of different wheel sets, but they are always handmade.

The Santos Race Lite, the first real road racing bike with a Rohloff hub: A real road bike with racing wheels, racing tires, racing steering, racing brakes and carbon racing front fork. Maybe this is the fastest Rohloff bike ever (although that also depends to some extent on the rider :-).

The maintenance-free and silent belt drive also fits this Santos. Quick and quiet, perfect for a Sunday jaunt. Durable and maintenance free, just right for the daily sprint to work. It is also available with a chain, because you can always decide to put a belt on it later..
A real Santos, practical and reliable
This rapid racer remains a genuine Santos. With reliable handmade wheels, a headset with stainless steel bearings, and comfortable and quick 28mm tyres. With the optional lightweight rear rack (which you can hardly see) and the racing fenders, you can speed to work throughout the winter with a laptop and lunchbox and a clean back. That is so practical.

No less than six molds were needed to make this exclusive Santos divisible rear dropout. That arm with the small wheel is called the "Snubber". Rohloff requires this thing when you mount a belt on your Rohloff hub. We have integrated it into the design. This rear dropout can be opened to get the belt through it. At the same time, the Snubber is part of the rear dropout. We also have a rear dropout without the snubber, for bikes with a chain drive. You can then easily convert to a belt drive later. All parts are made from forged aluminium that is then CNC machined; extremely strong and very precisely made. These rear dropouts can only be found on Santos bikes.
These special rear dropouts make the bike suitable for installation of the super light Santos Pack-Lite rear carrier. This is a lightweight (280gram) sort of lowrider for the rear. The low centre of gravity ensures a good riding performance, even with luggage. This carrier was designed by Santos and made specially for us by Tubus. It is suitable for 10kgs of luggage spread over one or two bags. A pair of fenders can also be attached. This makes riding in the rain no longer a problem, your back stays completely dry!
Our special Rohloff race adapter makes it possible to mount the shifter on the handlebars. The cables are only visible for a few centimetres before they disappear beneath the handlebar tape – it really looks very racy.
The perfect cable guides everywhere on the bike. A lot of design time went into that. But then it really looks beautiful - and it works well!
